I have been teaching church school, here at St. Andrew’s, for over thirty years. I have taught at many age levels but continue to come back to pre-school to first grade as I just love the interest and enthusiasm of our youngest students.
I was a widow for almost eight years and remarried a widower about seven years ago. I have two children, Jennifer, a family and consumer science teacher, who is married to my wonderful son-in-law Jeff, and my son John (Jack) who is a licensed funeral director and who spent 14 months in Iraq. I have a married step-son who presented us with a beautiful grand-daughter in 2007!
I am a graduate of SUNY at Albany with a BA in history and education. I have completed several hours toward my Master’s but never quite finished it. I am retired from Verizon were I varied jobs, the last being a staff manager in the accounting department. I live just outside the village, actually the second house into the town of Glenville.
I have attended St. Andrew’s since I was five years old. I received my first communion here, was confirmed her, was married here (twice), my children were baptized and confirmed here and Jen and Jeff were married her. Both my first husband and my mother are buried in the columbarium. I started teaching church school while I was in high school and started again when my children were small. I absolutely adore the little ones who God has blessed us with. Every week I learn something from them! I have also become a much better Christian as I spend time with them.
I have served on the Vestry several times and was a warden twice. Currently, I am on the Cyber Ministry Team and serve as a Lay Eucharistic Minister. I am a delegate to the 2008 Diocesan Convention. Over the years, I have been involved in both the deanery and the diocese. My favorite diocesan job was a chairman of the board of Beaver Cross, the Diocesan Camp.
I am a New York State licensed EMT and served as Medical Captain at Beukendaal Volunteer Fire Department for almost ten years and am a life-member of Beukendaal’s Auxiliary. I am a Red Cross CPR instructor and, on occasion, help teach the EMT course at SCCC. I love to garden and read.
I love St. Andrew’s family. When my first husband died, the parish got me through some very difficult times. I hope, by teaching, to repay the many blessings God has given me – one of the biggest being the day my parents found St. Andrew’s!
